If feeding your baby feels impossible right now...

YOU'RE NOT FAILING.
YOU JUST NEED SUPPORT.

Board-certified lactation care for families who want expert guidance without pressure, judgment, or agenda. Breastfeeding, pumping, formula feeding, or combination feeding — we support you, not a rulebook.

EVERY MOM DESERVES TO FEEL CONFIDENT FEEDING HER BABY

You don't have to do it alone.

Feeding was supposed to feel instinctual. Instead, it hurts. Or it’s confusing. Or it feels like every choice is being quietly evaluated by someone, somewhere.
If you’re exhausted, overwhelmed, or questioning yourself — nothing has gone wrong. Feeding challenges are common. And they’re fixable.

Imagine feeding your baby without panic.
Without pain.
Without wondering if you’re doing everything wrong.

Whether you’re breastfeeding, pumping, formula feeding, or combining approaches, you feel steady and informed. Your baby is thriving. And feeding no longer feels like the hardest part of your day.

That’s what we help families create — calm, evidence-based support that makes feeding feel manageable again.

EXPERT CARE, WITHOUT THE PUSH

Rooted Maternal Wellness is led by board-certified lactation consultants who believe two things can be true at once: breastfeeding is a powerful option — and feeding decisions are deeply personal.

We don’t pressure parents into exclusive breastfeeding.
We don’t shame formula use.
We don’t touch without consent. Ever.

We follow the evidence. We follow ethical standards. And most importantly, we follow your lead.

Because support should feel safe.
Not stressful.

“As any first-time mom knows, feeding can feel completely all-consuming. Having Nicole's compassionate, evidence-based support made things so much easier...”

Aetna PPO

We are in-network with Aetna PPO plans. Most lactation consultations are covered, though your specific benefits depend on your individual plan.

Sliding Scale Available

Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield

We are not in-network with Horizon BCBS — and not by choice. Horizon does not credential IBCLCs (International Board Certified Lactation Consultants), which is the gold standard credential in lactation care. This is an industry-wide issue we're actively advocating to change.

We still want to support you. We offer a sliding scale fee for Horizon BCBS members so that cost is never a barrier to getting the care you deserve. Reach out and we'll find something that works for your situation.
Don't confuse Horizon with IBX. Independence Blue Cross (IBX) and Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield are two separate insurance companies. If you have IBX, we are in-network — select that option above.
Out of Network

Other Insurance

We may not be in-network with your plan, but that doesn't mean you can't be seen. Many families with out-of-network benefits are still able to get reimbursed for lactation support.

What to do: Call the member services number on the back of your card and ask about your out-of-network lactation benefits. We can provide you with a superbill (itemized receipt) to submit for reimbursement.
We also offer self-pay options. Reach out and we'll make sure cost isn't a barrier to getting the support you need.

"We never felt any pressure to breastfeed above all else, which we found really comforting. After expressing resistance to getting our newborn's tongue tie released, she gave us options to feed more efficiently without it, which was so appreciated. THE FAQ

When should I see a lactation consultant?

Here's the truth: if you're Googling "when should I see a lactation consultant," you should probably see one. But specifically, reach out if feeding hurts (it shouldn't!), if you're worried about supply, if your baby isn't gaining weight well, if latch feels wrong, if pumping isn't working, if you're going back to work and stressed about it, or if you just want reassurance that everything's okay. We also do prenatal consultations if you want to prepare before baby arrives. You don't need to be in crisis to get support—sometimes it's nice to have an expert confirm you're doing great.

What should I expect during a lactation consultation?

Your consultation typically lasts 60-90 minutes (we don't rush!). We'll start by talking about your feeding journey so far, what's working, and what's challenging. Then we'll do a feeding assessment—watching how your baby feeds, checking latch if breastfeeding, evaluating baby's oral anatomy, and doing a weighted feed if needed to see how much milk baby is transferring. We'll create a personalized care plan with specific, actionable steps and provide you with written resources and videos to reference later. You can ask as many questions as you want, and we'll follow up via text/email to check on your progress.

What's the difference between an IBCLC and other lactation professionals

Great question! IBCLCs (International Board Certified Lactation Consultants) have the most advanced training and certification in lactation care. We complete hundreds of clinical hours, pass a rigorous board exam, and maintain continuing education requirements. We can handle complex medical situations like tongue ties, low supply, premature babies, and other challenging cases. We can also work with insurance companies. All our consultants are IBCLCs—the gold standard in lactation care.

Note From The Founder

After years of working with families, here's what I know: there's no perfect way to feed your baby. There's only what works for YOUR family. I started this practice to create a judgment-free space where all feeding methods are supported—breast, bottle, formula, pump, or whatever combination keeps you and your baby thriving.
